We want to thank the newest sponsors for the upcoming rescue event. malonesservice.com has allowed us to continue the upcoming events.
We have been utilizing Malone's for many years now for our own auto repairs, so we have had many chances to interact and get to know them. They are mechanics who we have grown to trust over the years. We are so glad that we can grow together with our community.

Sometimes furry creatures like hedgehods are actually more pests than pets! This is the case for many people in residential homes. If you find that you have a pest like this in your home, they it is essential that you do what you can to humanely remove these animals from your home. If you use poisons or chemicals to kill these creatures, then you will probably just create more problems for yourself. Not to mention, these animals are not at fault as many times it is us who invade their territory.
We support our local pest control services and definitely want to recommend those who go out of their way to humanely remove such animals. wildliferoundup is a company in the local marietta ga area that specializes in squirrel removal services, but they are also well versed in all other animal control services. We will many times in our lives encounter animals, both inside and outside of our homes. We should always strive to be respectful to nature. If animals must be removed from our homes, we should make sure that we try our best to remove them safely and relocate them to another location far away from us. Most of the time this won't even cost extra, which is why you should always seek out pest control companies that stress the importance of humane removal! A hedgehog will typically move around while looking for food (usually at night). The distances can range from 1 to 3 miles. If this seems like a lot for a small little hedgehod, then it should be nothing for you to come down to our local meet and greet. Learn about these fascinating creatures and if you are even more courageous, try and pet one. We promise they won't bite (although they may prick :) just kidding!).
For information and directions, please visit www.hedgehogstreet.org. We also want to thank hedgehogstreet, as well as www.wildliferoundup.com for generously sponsoring these events. If you are interested in being part of the events or volunteering, then please send contact information in our contact us page. We would love to hear from any of you! We are currently reaching the maximum amount of visitors that we can have at the event, so we are thinking of moving to a new location soon. Over the last year or so we have grown quite a bit due to our various Facebook groups and other forums that we have been actively participating in. Due to this, a larger area is exactly what we need to grow more with the community. And with a new, bigger location, we will also need to upp our staff more. So, do not be shy. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people who share your love for hedghehogs. Other than that, you will also get to hang out with the many hedgehods all day long; what could be better! If you have any ideas about activities for the events, then don't be afraid to drop us a line on our social media pages or even through the contact form that we listed above. Sharing is caring! Porcupines are those short little rodents that you may see from time to time in the woods. They are known for their coat, which is laced with sharp spines, otherwise known as quills, that put fear into people more than a skunks rearend!
These little guys get a bad reputation as they are commonly associated with painful thorns being stuck in you! But, that is really all that this is, fear. A dog has just enough potential to harm you as a porcupine does. As with all animals, if we treat them with respect and allow enough distance between us and them, then we are usually fine. The main thing you would really have to worry about is pets. Dogs especially love to bark and attack these creatures, often times coming very close to the animals. This is where the porcupine's greatest defense comes into play. Dogs have been known to get hundreds of quills stuck into their snouts from a single swipe of a porcupine's tail. So, take heed when around these animals, especially if you have young ones or children with you. As long as you respect them, then they will, in return, respect you. If you would like more information about the porcupine, then we invite you to visit the extensive wikipedia article on them. Thanks! |
